Claire Black, DDS
A Hendersonville native, Dr. Claire Black earned her DDS degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012. She joined Hendersonville Dentistry right after graduating, and she was a partner with the original owner, Dr. Clay Sanders, until his retirement in June 2017. Dr. Black strives to stay well-informed and offer her patients the highest level of care possible by taking continuing education courses throughout the year on topics that capture her interest. She is also a Spear Study Club member, and meets monthly with other local general dentists and specialists to further their education. Dr. Black has received additional training for dental implant placement, and is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the North Carolina Dental Society. Her goal as a dentist is to help patients of all ages achieve the highest level of oral health possible in a most gentle and efficient manner.
Dr. Black has been married to her husband, Preston, since 2006. Together, they have one daughter, who was born in 2014. In her leisure time, she enjoys riding dirt bikes with her family, autocrossing, and hiking. Dr. Black is also a member of the Hendersonville Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Ross Bower, DMD
Originally from South Africa, Dr. Bower moved to the U.S. in 1998. He completed his dental training at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine in Charleston, South Carolina. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, he moved to Greenville, North Carolina, to complete a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. As a new resident of western North Carolina, Dr. Bower is excited to get to know the community.
As an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and the American Dental Association (ADA), Dr. Bower is committed to providing the most current and up-to-date dental treatment to his patients. He enjoys working with people to ensure an enjoyable dental experience. He actively volunteers and participates in dental clinics across the state and mission trips to serve remote areas including Ecuador and Jamaica.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bower spends his time outdoors, enjoying fly fishing, mountain biking and hiking with his pug, Frank.

Hope joined our practice in 2015, and she enjoys being part of such a personable, warm, and friendly practice. Hope has three siblings and a dog. Her mom is a dental hygienist, so dentistry runs in the family. Her hobbies include hiking and reading.

Patti joined our team in June 2020 and loves her friendly and supportive co-workers! She graduated from Southern Adventist University in 1982 with a degree in office administration and puts it to good use here at Hendersonville Dentistry. Outside of the office, Patti loves beach and lake activities, crafts, and cooking and baking. She has been married to her husband for over 30 years.

Lisa has been a part of our practice since 2015. She loves working with her wonderful friends and puts her positive attitude and years of customer experience to work at our office every day.Lisa is also a real estate broker with her husband Greg. They have two sons, Joel and Kyle and a dog named Baxter. In her spare time, she enjoys running.

Carri has been in the dental field since 1995 and became a registered dental hygienist in 2000. She joined Hendersonville Dentistry in 2003, and enjoys being part of a practice where she gets to work with her friends in such an uplifting, fun environment, while delivering professional care to patients. Carri contributes to our success with her joy, laughter, and professionalism.
Heather S. – Registered Dental Hygienist
Heather graduated from A-B Tech in 1995 and joined our practice in 2002. Her favorite thing about being a part of Hendersonville Dentistry, is the family atmosphere combined with the mutual respect everyone has for each other. Heather helps us succeed with her support and by treating patients like family. Heather is married to her husband of 25 years. Together, they have four children. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and reading.

Heather joined our team in 2017 and attended AB Tech for her degree in dental hygiene. She enjoys the relaxed atmosphere and the exceptional dental care provided at Hendersonville Dentistry and always strives to help patients achieve and maintain their healthiest smiles.Heather is married with two kids. When she is not in the office, she enjoys hiking and mountain biking.
Sara – Dental Assistant
Sara has been with Hendersonville Dentistry since 2011, and she loves how her co-workers are more like family. She helps our practice succeed with her kind, caring, and professional manner. In her free time, Sara enjoys spending time with her partner, Rick, her dogs, Sadie and Lucky, and her cat, B.B. Her hobbies include hiking, Pilates, and gardening.

Sarah joined our Hendersonville Dentistry team in 2018. She graduated from dental assisting school in 2001. Sarah does her best to help Dr. Claire Black care for patients. She loves interacting with people, getting to know them and making their visit as comfortable as possible. Sarah enjoys being a part of our team because Dr. is great to work for and the team is fun and supportive. Sarah and her husband have two young daughters, who Sarah homeschools. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys reading, hiking and camping.
Karen – Insurance Coordinator
Karen has been with Hendersonville Dentistry since 2008, and she enjoys being a part of such a great team on a personal and professional level. As our insurance coordinator, she helps patients get the treatment they need by maximizing their insurance benefits and assisting them in understanding the often-challenging aspects of their plans. Karen has a wonderful husband, Kent, and together, they enjoy hanging out with friends, camping, and just making life an adventure. She is also blessed to be a part of her step-children’s lives, which include their seven grandkids. Karen also loves her fur babies, who are a big part of her life.
